The purpose
Creating triangular and rectangular prisms, basic shapes that are surprisingly challenging to construct if you don’t know the method.
Environment
Blender:3.4.1
Created from a cylinder
Create cylinder
“Select ‘Add’ → ‘Mesh’ → ‘Cylinder’ to create a cone.” This is straightforward and accurate.

Cylinder settings adjustments
Creating a cylinder displays the following GUI in the lower left.

After creating the cylinder, performing another action such as clicking the screen will cause the upper GUI to disappear, confirming the cylinder. Before performing this action, you need to do the following.
Click the above GUI and modify the ‘Vertex’ in the GUI that appears.

To create a triangular prism, set the number of “vertices” to 3.
To create a square prism, set the number of “vertices” to 4.
Changing the number of vertices allows you to create N-sided prisms (pentagonal prisms, hexagonal prisms, heptagonal prisms, and so on).
Result
If the number of vertices is set to 3, a triangular prism is created.

If the number of vertices is set to 4, a square prism is created.
