The purpose
nfig Studio sometimes prevents me from editing objects in imported .sif files, displaying an error message.

The value you are trying to edit is in a composition
which doesn't seem to be open. Open that composition and you
should be able to edit this value as normal.
This article provides solutions.
Layer embedding
After loading the sif file, right-click the sif file in the layer list. The loaded sif file will be displayed in the layer list with its file path as shown below.

Select “Embed Layers” from the displayed menu.

The list of layers will contain only the filenames without their extensions. (For example, if the filename is “filename.sif”, the layer will be named “filename”.)
Objects converted using this method can then be edited and have their keys set.
Result
We can now edit imported SIF files.
By the way
While you can edit imported .sif files by displaying them in a separate tab in Synfig Studio, there are many limitations, such as the edits not affecting the original file. Therefore, the method introduced here is preferable.
